He chose to take a different path, let the erhu catch up with electronic music, pop, classical, jazz, world music, modern dance, etc., and successfully introduced the erhu to various audiences all over the world, because for him, music is music, There is no boundary, like different cuisines, you don't have to eat the same kind of food all your life, there are still a variety of creative cuisines to choose from.

 

For Luo Changqin, the happiest thing is to travel around the world with the erhu, whether it is the stage of a formal concert hall, the big stage of an outdoor music festival with tens of thousands of people, a certain nightclub, or a certain street performance stage , who likes to try, he is willing to stand on the stage and use his wonderful and unique performances to let the world hear the good sound of cross-border erhu from Taiwan.

Under the tutelage of Huang Zhengming, the leader of the Caifeng Orchestra, and Lin Yuting, the director of the Music Department of National Taiwan University of Arts, he has a master's degree in erhu performance from the Institute of National Music of National Taiwan Normal University.

 

Luo Changqin has been involved in different music fields such as classical tradition, Hakka music, Gezai opera, Peking opera, Kunqu opera, world music, modern music, pop music, jazz music, and musicals. He has received complete training from traditional music since he was a child, making traditional music the greatest nutrient, so that he can confidently swim in different types of music on the basis of a profound tradition. He has been committed to using the erhu to cooperate with different types of musicians in the world since he was in university. He always shuttles between different musical fields, which makes him more inclusive than ordinary traditional musicians. He not only combines the essence and charm of the traditional erhu Bringing it into a more diverse field of performing arts, it also shows a new pattern that breaks through traditional music. Including the music soundtracks of popular movies [Big Mansions], [The Chief Shopkeeper], [The Battle of the Queen], or songs by pop singer Lu Guangzhong [Macy's Friends], [Mobile Boy], and even DJ electronic music full of Chinese style The work 【The Path of Time】, in which the erhu performances are all performed by Luo Changqin.

 

The solo performance album, except for the recorded [Jazz Erhu: Hu Says/Nonsense Jazz Erhu Performance Album] was shortlisted for the 25th Golden Melody Awards "Best Crossover Album" and the 5th Golden Sound Creation Award "Best Jazz "Album" and "Best Jazz Single" two awards nominations, released the cross-border erhu performance album [Taiwan Erhu - T.S. LO] in France and became the first Taiwanese erhu to be published globally by the largest French world music publishing company The performer is of indicative significance for bringing Taiwan's exquisite culture and art to the European market.

 

In 2015, he was invited to be the musician of the Ministry of Culture’s Taiwan Spotlight Project, touring in France and conducting a transnational cooperation project with French musicians; in the same year, he was invited to be the guest of the first Taiwan International Music Festival, performing "String x Crossover" Crossover Music meeting.

In 2016, he became a member of the Chinese music group RYU, and started a tour in Tokyo and Osaka, Japan with the famous Japanese musician Togi Hideki. In the same year, the music performance program "Sounds of Taiwan" was produced and performed 20 times at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and received four-star praise from media including heraldscotland and The Scotsman, and attracted British MPs, the chief consul of Japan, and the director of the Taiwan representative office, etc. Important people came to the scene to enjoy the concert, which was unanimously praised and achieved fruitful results.

In 2017, his trio Wooonta Crossover Orchestra was shortlisted for the "Best Crossover Music Album Award" and "Best Creation Award: Arrangement" at the 28th Chuanyi Golden Melody Awards, and finally became the Chuanyi Golden Melody with the "Best Creation Award: Arrangement" award winner.

 

Luo Changqin's unique achievements in the art of erhu performance have also attracted the attention of the academic circle, and became the research object of the master's thesis "Discussion on the Appearance of Luo Changqin's Cross-Border Erhu Performance from Cross-Boundary Chinese Music".You QidePublished in 2016. In 2019, it was also officially included in the introduction of Taiwanese musicians in Taiwan high school music textbooks.

In 2015, he was invited by Feng Chia University twice to be the speaker of [Nonsense Around the World] and [Journey to Zero Without Afraid of Challenge].

Graduated from National Taiwan Normal University Graduate Institute of Ethnomusicology, Erhu player T.S.LO studied the erhu since age 9. As a Cross-Over Musician, T.S. has not only deeply immersed himself in traditional musical culture over a long period of time, but has also participated in the development of new cross-cultural musical forms.

T.S. has frequently been invited to work with artists from all over the world working in many different genres, including pop singer Crowd Lu, DJ Xuan Liu, producer and guitarist Norman Hsu, French musicians Hugues Vicent, Lionel Pinard etc. He also recorded movie soundtracks from movies “My Greeky Nerdy Buddies”, “Zone Pro Site” and “Faithball”.

In 2014, his album “Jazz Erhu: Hu Says” was nominated for “Best Crossover Album” of the Golden Melody Awards for the Traditional Arts, and “Best Jazz Album” and “Best Jazz Single” of the Golden Indie Music Awards. The same year, his second album, a live pefromance recording, “Taiwan Erhu - T.S. Lo” was published by Buda Musicque in France and received great reviews.

T.S. has performed not only throughout Taiwan but also in various cities in Europe, Asia, and America, he is considered one of the most versatile and popular erhu players of his generation.

 

 

 

T.S.LO est un joueur taiwanais de Erhu (vièle chinoise à deux cordes). Diplômé de l'institut de musiques folkloriques de l'Université nationale normale de Taiwan, il poursuit une double carrière de concertiste et de professional. étudié le erhu depuis son enfance avec Huang Cheng Ming, Directeur de Chai Found Music Workshop, et joué tous les types erhu en tant que concertiste : erhu, gaohu, zhonghu, et banhu. Grâce à sa virtuosité et à sa sensibilité, T.S.LO a remporté de nombreuses competitions à Taiwan. Après avoir largement explore le répertoire traditionnel, il s'aventure vers toutes les formes d'expression contemporaines et collabore avec les musiciens les plus divers. Ainsi, de 2002 à 2007, T.S.LO fut le leader de l'ensemble Chai Found Music Workshop III. 
Il participe également, ou a participé, à différentes formations à Taiwan, notamment A Moving Sound ou The Nomads Ensemble avec lesquels il a publié différents enregistrements. Il est régulièrement sollicité pour des émissions de radio ou de télévision, donne des conférences et participe à toutes sortes d'événements à thème : concert de l'union des compositeurs asiatiques en 2011, concert dans le cadre de l'exposition universelle 2010 à Shanghai, concert « L'eau et la vie » à Qinghai en Chine... Il se produit régulièrement à l'étranger.
